Tori Kelly is answering the prayer of many-a-music-lover with news she’s set to drop her first official R&B single courtesy of a newly-signed deal with Epic Records.

Taking to social media Tuesday (March 7), the GRAMMY-winning songbird – who’s previously soared to critical acclaim for Pop and Gospel offerings – is now looking to roost in R&B territory.
Unveiling the sizzling cover artwork for the single ‘Missin U,’ Tori revealed her new look alongside the announcement the Jon Bellion-produced tune would hit digital shelves on March 17. She even gave her 4.1 million Instagram followers a sneak listen (seen and heard in the video above).
Her first original solo release since 2020, the Epic Records offering comes as the first taste of the new music set to line her forthcoming, yet-titled debut album on the label.

Whilst not an “entertainer” like Janet, JLo and Rihanna, Tori’s voice without a single instrument to accompany her could bury so many of your faves.
The difficulty is that she doesn’t fit the mould of oversēxêd pop kitten getting caught up in one media scandal after another whilst changing the man on her arm for the latest media man boy on the daily.
Tori is raw talent and unproblematic and labels failed to sell her in the “pop” lane and she’s too alternative for the strait R&B lane so they struggle to market her in a way that’s gonna sell and get the casual listeners attention.
Wishing her luck on the new label, hopefully it’s not too late and they know what to do with her (but this single sounds like a cute B-side and already lacks “hit” appeal. 🤷🏾♂️).
