The ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ rapper died last September aged just 59.
At the time, a heart attack was presented as the possible cause. However, the exact circumstances were unknown.
Following the results of toxicology reports, the star’s family has announced the coroner ruled the drug fentanyl as the central cause of the performer’s passing.
Coolio also had traces of heroin and methamphetamines in his system at the time of his death.
Per family spokesperson Jarel Posey, the late MC’s advanced asthma and cigarette smoking contributed to the variables surrounding his death. Both affected his body’s natural defenses against the adverse effect of the drugs.
Despite the unavoidably tragic circumstances that led to his death, his family is planning to honor his legacy in a longitudinal capacity by way of film, documentaries, and more.
