With 114 entries to his credit, Chris Brown is not only the most-decorated male singer in the Hot 100’s 65-year history but also one of the most-listed acts overall (currently sitting at #9 on the all-time list).
And while he is no stranger to seeing his many hits check off unprecedented milestones on the tally over his nearly 20-year career, most recently the GRAMMY winner’s sleeper hit – 2019’s ‘Under the Influence’ – marked a noteworthy personal milestone.
Details inside.
‘Under,’ found aboard Brown’s Billboard 200-topping ninth studio album ‘Indigo,’ got a second chance at chart domination in 2022 when it unexpectedly went viral on TikTok. Since then, the song has been a mainstay on the Hot 100 – even charting as high as #12 thanks to the reawakened interest.
Holding strong at #32 on this week’s edition of the hit list, ‘Under’ – now in its 35th print on the chart – reigns as the second longest-charting unaccompanied hit of the 34-year-old’s career, surpassing the 33-week tenancy of 2008’s ‘Forever.’ In fact, Brown’s last solo song to have as long of a presence on the tally was his 2005 debut single ‘Run It’ (which ran on the Hot 100 for a whopping 38 weeks at the height of its popularity).
Among all credited Chris tunes, ‘Under’ ranks #7 on the list of his longest-running hits and is currently bested by ‘Go Crazy’ (with Young Thug), ‘No Guidance‘ (with Drake), ‘Run It,’ ‘Post to Be’ (with Jhene Aiko & Omarion), ‘Loyal‘ (with Lil Wayne & French Montana), and ‘No Air‘ (with Jordin Sparks).
Keep it locked to That Grape Juice over the next few weeks to see if ‘Under’ has what it takes to hop above ‘Run It’ on Brown’s all-time index.
