Miley Cyrus may have dominated the charts with her music this year, but she won’t be dominating the live circuit anytime soon.

It’s been almost a decade since the ‘Flowers’ chart-topper embarked on a full-fledged arena trek with the ‘Bangerz Tour’ in 2014. And, in a new interview with British Vogue, the singer says the hiatus has been very intentional.
Explaining her stance, the 30-year-old said of her “desire” to not tour:
“It’s been a minute. After the last [headline arena] show I did [in 2014], I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t. Not only ‘can’t’, because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own? And, you know what…”
Elsewhere in the interview, she intimated that she prefers performers for smaller groups – like her hair and makeup team:
“I love performing but pretty much for them. Like singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety. It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people then you are alone.”

Ms. Cyrus’ stance is all sorts of interesting.
In one regard, it’s a touring-led market. So, having just released an album (‘Endless Summer Vacation’), it’s unique that the LP seemingly won’t be supported by a live component.
That said, it could be argued that Cyrus has earned the right and level of success to do as she chooses.
