Predictions Are In [Billboard 200]: Doja Cat Set to Nab Third Consecutive Top 10 Hit with ‘Scarlet’

Published: Saturday 23rd Sep 2023 by Rashad

Doja Cat‘s new album, ‘Scarlet,’ is already weaving quite the success narrative domestically and internationally.

Released Friday (September 22), the hitmaking rapper went to chart battle with the critically polarizing effort led by singles ‘Attention,’ ‘Demons,’ ‘Agora Hills,’ and the chart-topping ‘Paint the Town Red.’

Yet, despite not being greeted with the buzz of its history-making predecessor ‘Planet HER,’ ‘Scarlet’ is certainly being welcomed handsomely in some of the planet’s biggest sales markets.

Predicted First-Week Sales (SPS):  50,000-55,000 units

Predicted Billboard 200 Debut:  #2-#8

Per HDD, ‘Scarlet’ – on pace to be the week’s top-selling new album – will likely tap out near the 55,000-sold mark by the end of its inaugural sales tracking week.

If the prediction holds true the sum won’t be enough to dethrone the projected chart champion, Olivia Rodrigo‘s sophomore studio effort ‘Guts,’ from the top spot.  A historical repeat, longtime fans of both performers know this isn’t the first time Rodrigo has blocked Doja from topping the Billlboard 200.

And while the forecasted first-week sum of ‘Scarlet’ represents a nearly 51% drop from the 109,000 its predecessor (‘Planet HER’) moved out-of-the-box, the numbers should still be enough to land the rapstress her third consecutive top 10 opening on the hitlist.

Beyond pending U.S. music charts updates, the predictive news comes just as current Apple Music charts around the world report Doja is planted in the top 10 of over 100 countries including leading global markets like United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Peru, France, Canada, South Africa, Brazil, China, Jamaica, Germany, and more.
