Two decades after watching her sophomore album, 2003’s ‘The Diary of Alicia Keys,’ top the Billboard 200 with one of the highest first-week sales for an R&B album ever, Alicia Keys is undoubtedly hoping to repeat the feat with the LP’s 20th anniversary edition.
Announced Thursday (November 2), the commemorative project will feature all of the original’s tracks as well as some live versions of said tunes alongside previously unheard songs from the era. Among the latter is ‘Golden Child.’
“Girl, you can’t be scared / Gotta stand up strong / Let ’em see what shines in you / Push aside the part,” she sings on the touching, piano-laden song. “Laying in your heart / Like an ocean is deep, dark, and blue.”
