Usher‘s latest smash, the Summer Walker and 21 Savage-assisted ‘Good Good,’ may not have gotten much attention from the Recording Academy for the forthcoming GRAMMYs, but the Soul Train Awards came all the way through with recognition.
Garnering the R&B vet a whopping 9 nominations in categories like Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, and more, the Mel & Mus-produced track was the reason the 45-year-old (born Usher Raymond) entered the annual event’s 2023 iteration as the most-nominated male act.
By the end of the night, Raymond had not only collected multiple trophies but also made a major advancement in the show’s record books.
Details inside.
Among his 9 nods, Ush left the 2023 Soul Train Awards with 3 (Best Collaboration, Best R&B Male, and the Soul Train Certified Award) – making him the night’s second most-awarded act behind SZA who collected 4.
With the trio of trophies added to his previous triumphs, the ‘Good Good’ singer now owns 12 of the coveted prizes.
Passing Michael Jackson (10), R. Kelly (11), and Babyface (11) on the list of all-time winners, the only male performers to have accumlated more wins in the award show’s history are Bruno Mars and Chris Brown (tied with 14).
Among all acts, Beyonce – with a whopping 25 wins – remains the Soul Train Awards’ most-decorated performer overall.
