On this week’s country airplay chart, ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ enters the top 40 for the first time ever. Sitting at #34, the song becomes on the second solo song by a black female artist to reach the top 40 of the chart.
The only other black female artist to reach this area was Micky Guyton with her song ‘Better Than You Left Me.’ That song also peaked at #34 on the country airplay chart.
“Texas Hold ‘Em’ is the first taste of music, along with her song ’16 Carriages,’ of what act 2 of ‘Renaissance’ has in store. The album is due out later this month on March 29.

She is changing the stereotype on how country vocals are supposed to sound. She is expanding the idea of how country is supposed to sound and look.
