Victoria Monet‘s breakout hit, ‘On My Mama,’ continues to birth “firsts” for the multi-talented songstress.
As if becoming her first Billboard #1 hit wasn’t enough to boast, the D’Mile-produced tune also owns the title of being her first Hot 100 top 40 hit and it helped lead to the capture of her inaugural trio of GRAMMYs at this year’s ceremony.
Most recently, ‘Mama’ was met with news from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) that it had become her first Platinum-certified hit.
Details inside.
Taking to press Friday (March 8), the RIAA revealed Monet’s ‘Mama’ was certified Platinum – meaning it has sold the equivalence of 1 million units in the United States alone.
The shiny plaque is the first Victoria has ever received as a performer.
News of the Platinum certification came the same day the songstress learned the tune hit #1 on R&B radio months after it had boasted a similar achievement at Urban radio.
Look below to see how she responded to that report.
