Sean Kingston and his mother were arrested on theft and fraud charges after a SWAT team raid of the award-winning rapper’s South Florida residence on Thursday morning (May 23).

More details have emerged about the shocking arrest of Sean Kingston.

The 34-year-old, best known for his 2007 breakout hit ‘Beautiful Girls,‘ and his mom, Janice Turner, were taken into custody after a raid was carried out by a Florida SWAT team following allegations that arose against the mother-son duo for reportedly scheming to defraud several businesses including a jeweler and car dealership for goods valued at over $100,000.

Further, the two were accused of grand theft of property valued at over $80,000.

As if that’s not enough, Kingston and Turner both face several counts of writing bad checks and identity fraud while the former was also hit with charges of violating his probation in connection with trafficking stolen property.

“People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother! My lawyers are handling everything as we speak,” Sean said Thursday night (May 23) to his 2 million followers on Instagram.

Turner appeared before a judge on Friday (May 24) who set her bond at $160,000 after reading off the eight fraud and theft charges against her and learning of her previous arrests for similar misconduct.

At writing, Kingston is being held without bond.

Attorney Bob Rosenblatt, who represents the singer and his mother, spoke out on behalf of his clients.

“We wanted to bring them back as soon as possible so he could self surrender but they grabbed them before we could do that and he’s going to waive extradition,” Rosenblatt said before adding. “You would think Osama bin Laden was there with all the for use of force that they use their long guns and SWAT teams and masks and everything else like. you know it was, it was crazy! Certainly overreacted.”

The raid on his Florida home was reportedly triggered by a lawsuit between Ver Ver Entertainment and Kingston that was filed in February that claimed the rapper-singer has not paid for purchased items from the company and that he promised promotional videos with his “friend” Justin Bieber.

Ver Ver Entertainment further claims multiple judgments were entered against Kingston between 2015-2022 after he obtained over $1 million worth of goods without payment.
