Ed Sheeran Shades Artists Who Say They Don’t Care About Success

Ed Sheeran is getting candid about he feels about artists in the music industry.

More details below…

In a new interview with Jake Shane for ‘Therapuss with Jake Shane,’ Sheeran throws shade at artists who claim they don’t care about success.

“I don’t believe any artist that says they don’t, otherwise you wouldn’t release music because you’d be like, ‘If I don’t care what people think, then why would I even put it out?’ You’d just sort of make the music and be like, ‘Well that’s made me feel good,'” he begins.

“All artists, we want to be loved. That’s why we are on stage. And that’s why you sign to a record company to go, ‘I would like people to hear the music that I’m making,'” he continued.

“I don’t really subscribe to this whole, like, not caring thing… that’s all a kind of ruse of cause it sounds cool to say but every artist wants people to like their music… It really pisses me off when people are like, ‘Oh I don’t care how it does.’ I’m like, ‘F**king shut up! You do! Everyone does.’ […] Anyone in the pop game definitely cares,” Sheeran concluded.

Sheeran has been one of the most commercially successful artists of the last decade scoring hits like ‘Shape of You,’ ‘Thinking Out Loud,’ ‘Don’t,’ and more.

I disagree. I think you enjoy being an artist and sharing your talent without carrying if it goes viral. Being “viral” and “successful” today includes many politricks to begin with. Most of it is subjectively trash. There are real artists who will do it for the love and not the numbers.

I actually agree with him and I don’t think he means everyone wants to be number 1 with a stack of Grammys but if u release music that never hits billboard not even the lower half and u never get awarded that is probably not exactly how u wanted things to happen. If that’s the case u can never do the music u “love” full time.

I disagree completely. I listen to mainly independent artists who will never get coverage in mainstream or dated ghetto sites like this one lol. They just release it for the artistry and perform where they can. Mainstream is a different spectrum is not every artist’s idea of success. You bought into the manufactured ideas of success which may work for you and others, but many never had a goal to win an award. Fake anyway.

So this is what they tell themselves to stay sane. He knows he’s the male Taylor Swift: boring, unoriginal, and malformed
