Brandy and Monica made headlines afresh after making a surprise appearance in the video for Ariana Grande‘s latest hit ‘the boy is mine.’
Now, in what began as a brief cameo, the duo – who earned chart-topping, GRAMMY-winning success with their 1998 song of the same name – joined the songbird on the remix of the ‘eternal sunshine’ jam.
That may not be all, though.
Because, in a new interview, Monica revealed that she’s open to working with Brandy on brand-new material.
Full story below…
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Monica said of repairing her relationship with B-Rocka:
“We recognized that the key was to keep other people out of our relationship, both business and personal, and let it be between she and I, and that has changed everything. It’s changed the trajectory of it in its totality. My son was in the hospital the other day and she was who I was speaking to while he was there, so I think that is what Ariana has done that she may not even realize.”
She continued:
“But this time, I thank God for growth and change and just becoming a mom and experiencing a lot of what I have and learning to properly communicate.
The process of the new collaboration did a lot of closing the gaps. When you properly communicate, something — you can find not only the resolutions and solutions to problems — but sometimes you find that there weren’t ever problems, just consistent miscommunications.
It made it a lot easier just to talk.”
When asked directly about the potential of more music with Brandy, Monica responded:
”Anything is possible!
Elsewhere in the candid interview, Brandy said of how the latest collaboration came about:
“I’ve always said that the song should not be touched, right? And I said that because I felt that it did not need to be redone in the idea of, let’s say, actually doing it the exact way that it was. But Ariana and [producer] Max Martin — as soon as I heard this version, I fell in love with it.”
Monica added of working with Grande:
“What I am so amazed by is her humility, her compassion. On the day that we recorded, I received flowers and a note that was directly from her. Everything has been directly from her chest and, for me, authenticity, humility, all of those things are key.”

We’d be here for more from Brandy and Monica. Would you?
Yes, and let’s get it
And a tour.
I would definitely go and I am a HETERO Male lol. This 2 are legendary contemporaries
The song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pleaseeeee no more Rico Love songs – It All Belongs to Me was a massive letdown.. Rico Love just doesn’t have a good track record for producing hits. I think Motivation was decent but I can’t remember anything else he’s done that’s worth mentioning.
Here’s hoping Brandy and Monica work with producers like Max Martin, Rodney Jerkins, or Dallas Austin. TBIM remix is probably the most contemporary R&B/pop song they’ve done in years. Their voices are still strong. Glad they’ve worked things out.
They should start a girl group w Normani called Flopgurlz
Nice if Brandy and Monica would move on with their music they seem like they’re stuck in the past. Move on to something else
They need to send Ari some flowers coz she made the public talking about them again. These two are very irrelevant since 2010s
Lies Monica is the queen of R&B
Brandys last album b7 out sold and out charted many of her contemporaries who are on major labels while Brandy went indie. And while Monica has struggled to launch her album trenches, there’s a lot of critic interest. They are more than relevant. The likes of kelani, normani, camilla cabello, SZA etc reference them as inspiration. Put some respect on their name
NO THANKS. THEY RUINED ARI’S SONG. I THOUGHT THEY BOMBED THE SONG IT’S ALL BELONG TO ME.. WE DON’T NEED PART 3 ON THAT.
This whole Brandy/Monica narrative is tired now. Face it, neither one of them is popping anymore like they were in the 90s, and these young kids are not checking for them
