NPR’s 2024 Black Music Month Series To Include Tiny Desk Concerts from Chaka Khan, SWV, Kierra Sheard, Flo Milli, Tems, & More

Published: Tuesday 4th Jun 2024 by Rashad

Having already thrilled with performances from GRAMMY-winning, international sensations Sean Paul and Tems, NPR’s June roster has only begun to rock the internet with its wildly popular live music offering ‘Tiny Desk Concerts.’

Tapping some of the most notable names in R&B, Gospel, and beyond for its third annual Black Music Month series, look inside to see who will help one of the Web’s biggest stages celebrate.

From groundbreaking veterans to this generation’s game-changing gems, NPR is set to shine a spotlight on some very recognizable female faces in Black music over the course of 9 eagerly anticipated ‘Tiny Desk’ concerts designed to “give women their flowers” (which inspired the artwork seen in the announcement above).

Kicked off by Nigerian chart-topper Tems, the other 8 acts are Flo Milli, Tierra Whack, Kierra Sheard, Lakecia Benjamin, Meshell Ndegeocello, Brittney Spencer, SWV, and Queen of Funk Chaka Khan.

“This Black Music Month, we’re giving the ladies their flowers!,” said Bobby Carter, host and series producer. “We’re releasing nine Tiny Desk concerts from Black women who’ve paved the way for what we hear today in Black music and others who are carving out their own paths. All of them are queens in their own right who represent a beautiful array of genres, generations and walks of life.”

Keep it locked to That Grape Juice for more on the Tiny Desk Concert schedule as details become available.
