“Over the Influence”: JoJo Readies “Breathtakingly Candid” Memoir for September Release

Published: Monday 3rd Jun 2024 by Rashad

When not leaving jaws ajar with her stunning performances on Broadway as part of the ‘Moulin Rouge’ revival in summer 2023, Joanna Levesque (best known mononymously as JoJo) stunned with news she was working on a memoir.

Nearly a year later, the award-winning songstress is finally ready for her fans to turn the pages of her story in ‘Over the Influence’ – a highly anticipated autobiography branded a “breathtakingly candid” look at the life of one of Pop music’s most unsung songbirds.

With a career that’s spanned over two decades, Jo broke into the music scene at just 12-years-old and was catapulted to mainstream Pop success shortly after with her 2004 breakthrough single, ‘Leave (Get Out),’ and its eponymous parent project.

Seemingly poised to be the music industry’s next big-voiced diva at one time, the singer’s promising career was derailed by a multi-year battle with her record label that led her to depression, substance abuse, and other self-destructive behavior before eventually overcoming the adversities to return to big stages around the world.

“In this raw, behind-the-scenes look at her life, both personal and professional, JoJo’s unflinching vulnerability allows readers to connect with her on a whole new level through stories of success, heartbreak, redemption, and resilience,” the book’s official description relays. “More than a victory lap from an artist with over two decades in an ever-changing entertainment industry, ‘OVER THE INFLUENCE’ is an unapologetic rallying cry to anyone who’s ever  been terrified to fail…”

Not long after JoJo took to Instagram on Monday (June 3) to offer a cryptic tease of the forthcoming memoir (as seen above), major book retailers listed the highly anticipated project with a September 17 release date.
