Kendrick Lamar fans may think he finished Drake in their epic back-and-forth battle, but – let the rumor mill tell it – there’s a new contender to the diss track throne: Big Sean.
Already having a good week after landing his first Hot 100 top 40 hit since 2018 thanks to the Eminem-led ‘Tobey,’ Sean saw his name trending on social media Tuesday (July 16) for dropping a fiery freestyle on the ever-popular ‘On the Radar‘ series.
Riding the beat of one of late R&B princess Aaliyah‘s greatest hits, 1996’s ‘If Your Girl Only Knew,’ the Detroit rapper (born Sean Anderson) not only toasted his fellow hometown hero but rendered a set of lines many have perceived were subliminal disses to Lamar.
“I got better things to do than find someone to beef with,” he spit over the classic Timbaland production in between lines about truly being “the greatest” and before relaying, “Difference is I’m an activist and you drink actavis and I’m back acclimated.”
And while Anderson has been clear over the years that there’s no bad blood with Kendrick, the bar – in conjunction with ongoing whispers the two aren’t exactly the friendliest to each other behind the scenes – was enough to send the rumor mill into overdrive and Sean’s name into trending status across Twitter and beyond.
He didn’t call Lamar by name, but see the full freestyle clip below and let us know what you think.
The hoopla comes the same week Lamar returned to #1 on the Hot 100 for his Drake diss ‘Not Like Us.’
