Missy Elliott has received an out of this world honor.

More details below…

Taking to press, NASA announced that its Deep Space Network has officially transmitted Elliott’s song ‘The Rain’ to Venus. As a result, the song has now become the first hip-hop song ever beamed into space by the government agency.

The transmission of the song took place last Friday from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, using the DSN’s powerful radio antennas.

The song traveled 158 million miles from its location to Venus and took 14 minutes at the speed of light to reach the planet.

It is just the second song ever to be beamed into space. Previously, ‘Across the Universe’ by the Beatles was transmitted in 2008.

And still she’s one of the most respected female rapper in the world, she’s a legend. Tekashi 69 has a n°1 on Billboard, does that make him a great rapper?

that rainbow beano went # 1 coz of Nicki was on the track. Nice try!

Nobody cares if it was solo or featuring, that’s still a n°1 on Billboard which doesn’t mean a thing lately. You were wrong, deal with it.

I was surprised to learn that she didn’t have any #1 hits because she’s had quite a few HUGE classic hits. They felt like #1 but much stiffer competition and NO STREAMING back then. Regardless Missy is a legend with plenty of SALES and ACCLAIM to support that. 😉

She’s a legend and did it without taking her pants off or a BBL, so take a seat.

    She went #1 twice with
    Last Marmalde (2001)
Last Friday Night (TGIF) remix (2010)
