Normani: “I’ve Been Tested Spiritually, Emotionally, Mentally, & Physically”

Published: Sunday 28th Jul 2024 by Sam

Normani is waxing candid about the journey to the release of her debut studio album ‘Dopamine.’

Received well by fans and critics alike upon its long-awaited release last month, the project has been subject to a staccato rollout that spanned almost six years.

In a new interview in support of the LP, the 28-year-old opened up about the challenging journey to this point,

Full story below…

Speaking NPR, Normani frankly fessed:

“I’ve really been tested spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically – like, God, what do you want me to see in all this? Is this project going to come out? Is it going to see the light of day?”

Reflecting on the positive outcome, she concluded:

“And it did. And so I never gave up on myself, and that to me means more than any chart or any accolade.”

We love us some Mani, but it arguably feels like the “testing” is still at play, because the relative “nothingness” of the era thus far has been…something.

Where’s the push? The videos? The anything?

It’s unfortunate, perplexing, and, in many ways, sad given that the album is super solid (click here to check out TGJ’s top tracks).

Hopefully, there’s some clarity incoming. Because we’re next to certain that Normani isn’t just chilling on some nonchalant tip.

There’s so much unseen in showbiz that oftentimes is way left of what folk would ever think. At the same time, the present silence is deafening and it’s certainly not serving the album or Normani in any kind of helpful way. Put simply, things need to start moving or explanations need to surface. Pronto.

So interviews that no one reads is her definition of promo😂😂😂
No social media interaction, no performances, no talk shows ….. I’m convinced this chick thinks she’s Beyonce. Where she can just drop music and disappear when that’s far from the truth.
She keeps speaking in riddles instead of saying wtf it really is. She deserved to flop.

💀💀to avoid RCA bankrupting, they had stop investing this ashy flop long time ago. Wise choice!

Gurl bye! It’s always some excuses with her. Rest in peace

I agree! She was suppose to perform on an award show recently but she “hurt” herself in rehearsals…smgdh I’m convinced she doesn’t want it like some of us want it for her

I am probably one of Normani biggest stan, and this era only shows me reckless! Understand the labels factor, but ahe could do something in your social medias, create any type of buzz, she just give up the project, and after all these years I feel very bad to receive that!

She was supposed to be part of the Usher tribute at the BET Awards earlier this year but had to pull out and got replaced by Glover/Childish Gambino. What happened gurl!? And please release those visuals for Dopamine soon!

I think if it was up to Normani ,she would have been released a video and probably
been booked on a late night talk show. Lets call a thing a thing, RCA is holding
Normani to push out Camila Cabello music. But I am glad that she doing some
interviews with different blog sites and radio ,and tv. I just hope that things turn
      around for Normani promotionally.

Noooooo, you can’t keep blaming rca, she can promote herself, stop it

She needs a 5H reunion at this point

Where was it well received? Honest question!
It sold 6k copies, it’s not in any streaming records, people didn’t know this album even dropped. The one song they had Brandy singing background, wtf?!?! This is sad for Normani

but RCA isn’t the reason she’s not promoting on HER OWN SOCIAL MEDIAS!
    why doesn’t she promote herself?
does she think she can sell records on her name alone? why does she act like she isn’t happy with 95% of the songs on dopamine???? isn’t this supposed to be the album SHE wanted to make & put her “heart and soul” into????
