Celine Dion is a woman of her word.
Despite the personal and professional setbacks that have accompanied her highly publicized battle with the rare neurological disease Stiff Person Syndrome, the Pop icon has vowed she will return to the stage – a promise shortly followed by murmurs of comeback performance of global proportions at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
But just as her beloved fans around the world prepare to have their eyes glued to screens to catch it, reports have surfaced the highly anticipated showing is just one of a few major stage outings the 56-year-old has her sights set on this year.
Taking to press on Wednesday (July 24), TMZ confirmed Dion’s return to performing will occur Friday (July 26) at the Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony as part of a live duet with fellow GRAMMY-winning icon Lady Gaga.
According to the outlet, the Pop divas have been tapped to perform Édith Piaf’s classic ‘La Vie en Rose.’
And while Celine has not confirmed her appearance yet, she did take to X (formerly known as Twitter) to confirm she was in Paris as recently as Wednesday morning. Rumor has it she will rake in a cool $2 million for the one-time performance.
As if that news isn’t enough to send her diehard fans into a frenzy, it’s also been reported she is readying a long-awaited new Las Vegas residency at Resorts World three years after canceling her last extended gig at the venue due to her health complications.
Keeping her headline-grabbing promise, Dion – reportedly in the “final stages of negotiation” for the Sin City venture – is said to be eyeing a late 2024 or early 2025 kick off for the limited engagement.
