‘Keep On, Keepin’ On’ rapper MC Lyte has long kept quiet about the sexuality rumors that have trailed her for much of her career.
That changed today (August 8) on the latest episode of The Breakfast Club.
For, while chopping it up with hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy, the multihyphenate media maven addressed the speculation head-on.
And she was, perhaps, more candid than ever.

While there to dish on her new album, the conversation turned to Lyte’s personal life.
Opening up about the media portrayal of her divorce from her ex John Wyche, the veteran bemoaned the clickbait flavor of reporting that has defined how her narrative has been covered thus far.
Charlamagne then quizzed her directly about the lingering rumors that she was a lesbian.
Asked whether it rattled her, the femcee fessed:
“Did it bother me? Perhaps in the beginning.”
Continuing, she said:
“My biggest thing with the young generation is don’t be so prepared (in a rush) to put yourself in a box (definitively).”
I had to learn, much later on in life, that everything you think…doesn’t need to happen. It can be a thought and stay there. Everything you see other people do, doesn’t have to be the life for you.
Growing up as an only child, I was impressionable.
That’s not saying those type of things didn’t happen in my life. But that’s not all of who I am.”
Probing the latter remark, Charlamagne asked whether that meant she had experimented (with her sexuality) to which she replied “Yeah.”
She added”
“The sad part about it is that many people get stuck there. Or stuck with what other people want them to be.”
