A year-and-a-half after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) first revealed Alicia Keys‘ 2007 chart-topping hit ‘No One‘ was on-pace to becoming her first solo, Diamond-certified hit, the organization has revealed the tune has finally crossed the sales threshold.
Details inside.
Taking to press on Friday (August 16), the RIAA announced Keys’ ‘No One’ – the first single from her chart-topping 2007 album ‘As I Am‘ – had been christened Diamond. The measure denotes 10 million in sales in the United States alone.
Her second song to be certified as high, the news comes less than a month after the 15-time GRAMMY winner learned the 2009 smash ‘Empire State of Mind‘ had reached a similar threshold.
Thanks to the two #1 hits, Alicia has become only the second Black female vocalist in the RIAA’s 71-year history (following Rihanna with 6) to own multiple Diamond-certified singles. Among all Black female acts, only rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B can also boast inclusion in this club.
Together, the updated sales statuses of ‘No One’ and ‘Empire State’ push Keys’ cumulative sales to 59 million in the U.S. – making her one of the best-selling female R&B stars of all time.
Congrats Rihanna 👏
Alicia is still off key
When did Rihanna become a vocalist???? She is just single artists
No one is a classic but Fallen and like you’ll never see me again deserves this type of success.
