Tinashe Revisits Chris Brown Beef & Dishes on Being “Disappointed” That ‘Nasty’ Was Snubbed by the VMAs: “I’ve Never Been Nominated For an Award”

Tinashe‘s comeback hit, ‘Nasty,’ may easily be one of this year’s songs of the summer, but apparently that status wasn’t enough to garner love from the MTV VMAs.

Last week the coveted annual award show unveiled its list of nominees for the 2024 ceremony and – to the surprise of many – ‘Nasty’ was nowhere to be found.

While hot on the promo trail this week for the August 16 arrival of the tune’s parent project, ‘Quantum Baby,’ the historically underrated diva waxed honest about her feelings on being omitted from the VMAs nominations tally.

Look inside to see what she said.

Chatting it up with Billboard, Tinashe dished on everything from the ongoing success of ‘Nasty’ to the impact of Tik Tok on her career and her forthcoming ‘Match My Freak Tour.’

When quizzed on if she felt a way about not being nominated for a VMA, the 31-year-old was surprisingly honest.

“[I was] disappointed but not surprised,” she said of her reaction. “I’ve never been nominated for an award, period. I did get nominated for a BET award once. Other than that, I’ve never been nominated. I definitely wasn’t counting on that.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the ‘Nasty’ songstress was questioned about her nasty fallout with ‘Player‘ co-star Chris Brown.

“I did not speak to him,” she shared (suggesting they’ve not reconciled). “I just don’t think he listened to the context of the interview.”

That’s not all she said!
