In what comes as shocking news, embattled music mogul Diddy (born Sean Combs) has been arrested.
According to Marc Agnifilo, an attorney for Combs, the rapper-producer-mogul was arrested in Manhattan on Monday night (September 16).
At the time of this report, the charges are unclear.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” said Agnifilo.
According to Agnifilo, Combs has been cooperating with the investigation and was fully expecting the arrest despite maintaining his innocence.
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person but is not criminal,” the attorney told the press. “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
The detainment comes as the latest in a series of legal woes for Combs who is not only the target of a sex trafficking probe by the Homeland Security Investigations agency, but is also the recipient of multiple lawsuits that directly accuse him of sexual, verbal, and/or physical assault – most of which have surfaced over the last year and include accusations from superstar singers like Cassie and Dawn Richard.
Diddy has repeatedly denied all wrongdoing alleged in the various lawsuits.
