‘Hot To Go!’ hitmaker Chappell Roan found herself in some hot water recently after a quote lifted from her chat with ‘The Guardian’ left some fans feeling she was inadvertently endorsing Trump for President.

Calling out the U.S. government in the British publication, Roan waxed honest about having “so many issues” with the way her native country is being run.

“There are so many things that I would want to change. So I don’t feel pressured to endorse someone,” she shared before later saying, “There’s problems on both sides. I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote – vote small, vote for what’s going on in your city.”

A celebrated champion of the queer community, however, many of her LGBT fans took umbrage with her suggested  indifference given how some of the Trump administration’s rhetoric and first-term policies negatively impacted the community.

Once the hoopla got back to her desk, Roan clarified that her statements were “taken out of context” and that she was merely trying to encourage readers to “use critical thinking” to come to their own conclusions.

“Hear it from my mouth, if you’re still wondering,” Roan said on TikTok on Tuesday (September 24). “No, I’m not voting for Trump and yes, I will always question those in power and those making decisions over other people. And I will stand up for what’s right and what I believe in. And like, it’s always at the forefront of my project.”

All-in-all, Chappell wanted her fans to know that her true political endorsement will be seen and not just heard.

“If you read my full interviews, if you literally know anything about me and for what I stand for, you know that this is not lip service,” she relayed. “This is not virtue signaling. That my actions have always paved the way for my project and the people who really know me… actions speak louder than words and actions speak louder than an endorsement.”
