Lil Wayne Addresses Super Bowl 2025 Snub: “I Blame Myself”

Published: Friday 13th Sep 2024 by Sam

Lil Wayne is speaking up and out after missing out on the headlining slot at the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2025.

While it never was even confirmed that the rapper was in the running for the slot, which ultimately went to stage blazer Kendrick Lamar, social media has been locked in fierce debate. Specifically regarding the Apple Music-sponsored spectacle taking place in the MC’s hometown of New Orleans on February 9, 2025.

Indeed, even the likes of Weezy’s Young Money comrade Nicki Minaj weighed in.

Now, Wayne is sharing his take. And let’s just say that he’s in his feelings.

Full story below…

Speaking in a video shared with fans, the ‘Lollipop’ hitmaker seemed somber and sour about not snagging the slot (which is co-produced by Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation). He vented, saying:

“I blame myself, for not being mentally prepared for a let down.”

That said, we’re keen to hear what you think.

As he should (blame himself), he should’ve never assumed he would be selected. I could see maybe getting his hopes up but full out believing he would be chosen was only setting himself up for disappointment.

Rap civil war still ongoing. That’s the problem.

The problem with all this buzz and the choice is that that it originates in dissing games. Culture dictates we do not condone disses or glorify such songs. How can someone be a great choice when they had to diss a Young Money product to shine?

How does that not add salt to the injury? You don’t really need genius intellect to connect Drake – Lil Wayne – Birdman – YMCMB – New Orleans; means even as it stands Drake is more popular than Kendrick Lamar there. Most Wayne fans are the Drake fans who are about to suffer double humble pie!

Drake is the best product of YMCMB hence a direct pride of the state by association. Basically taking it as if the people of Louisiana would take it kindly to a diss of their own in front of them is playing dumb. To add the salt to the wound is snubbing Wayne while seeming to encourage humiliating his protégé. (Not that it’s guaranteed Kendrick would play the disses though, big respect). However that’s how it feels for most of Wayne fans.

Know how massive YMCMB has influence in Hip Hop culture is as compared to any other musical acts across the world. Numbers don’t lie. Drake, Wayne and Nicki (& Tyga) – YMCMB – are the biggest rappers in the world as a collective, and dissing one is dissing all, NFL.

I think LW Wasn’t picked due to his solidarity to that Guy Who Thinks We’re Gonna Allow Him ANOTHER CHANCE TO SCREW UP OUR COUNTRY in November!
Though I’m not AT ALL Down with LW’S Choice for the next President of this nation, I was a fan of his music & LW’s Music JUST AIN’T FOR THAT CROWD. Sadly for him & his fans, K.DOT’s THE BETTER CHOICE FOR THE SB Half Time Show, despite it being in NOLA.
I feel badly for LW BUT AM LOOKING FORWARD TO K.DOT’s Performance!
