Miley Cyrus Sued Over Allegedly Copying Bruno Mars Song

Miley Cyrus is the subject of a lawsuit over her song ‘Flowers.’

More details below…

According to The Guardian, Cyrus is being sued over allegations that she and her co-writers copied portions of Bruno Mars’ 2013 song ‘When I Was Your Man.’

The lawsuit by Tempo Music Investments claimed that ‘Flowers’ includes unauthorized “exploitation” of the song. Co-writers Gregory Hein and Michael Pollack are also named, and Sony Music Publishing, Apple, Target, Walmart and other companies are accused for distributing the song.

It is also worth noting that Mars is not named as a plaintiff. Tempo Music claim it owns a portion of ‘When I Was Your Man due to a  purchase from co-writer Philip Lawrence.

The company is seeking yet-to-be-determined damages as well as to prohibit Cyrus from reproducing, distributing or publicly performing the song.

The first time I heard this song I immediately knew it was a backwards Version Bruno Mars song.

If you read the lyrics of both songs the derivative aspect of “Flowers” is obvious. Everything Mars said he should have done, (bought her flowers, spend hours, take her dancing, hold her hand) is everything Cyrus says she can do for herself, item per item. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see they definitely used the Bruno Mars’ song and apparently without permission.
