Report: Plies Sues GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion, & Cardi B For Copyright Infringement Over Their Hit ‘Wanna Be’

2024’s ‘Wanna Be‘ may have landed GloRilla one of her biggest Hot 100 hits to date, but – thanks to a recently filed lawsuit by fellow rapper Plies – the tune could land her in court.

According to docs obtained by TMZ, Plies (born Algernod Washington) is taking legal action against GloRilla for ‘Wanna Be,’ alleging the song infringes the copyright of his tune 2004 ‘Me & My Goons.’

Because Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B are listed as features on the official remix of the Glo cut, the ‘WAP‘ hitmakers have also been named defendants in the suit.  Even Soulja Boy, whose 2010 smash ‘Pretty Boy Swag’ is the credited sample in ‘Wanna Be,’ was named as a co-defendant.

At the time of this report the financial remedy Washington is seeking for the alleged unauthorized use of his song has not been openly disclosed.

Soulja, Megan, Cardi, nor GloRilla has issued a public statement on the matter yet.
