Beyonce, Adele, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift may have respectively rendered some of the biggest hits known to man since the turn of the millennium, but – according to Billboard – all of them pale in comparison to Dua Lipa‘s seismic 2020 smash ‘Levitating.’
In the same week the music Bible delivered its polarizing ‘Top Artists of the 21st Century‘ and ‘Top 200 Albums of the 21st Century‘ lists did it also drop the ‘Top 100 Songs of the 21st Century.’
Unlike it’s more opinion-based rankings, these tallies are based on commercial performance (i.e. sales, streams, radio airplay, tenure, peak placement, etc.) on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2024.
And while The Weeknd‘s history-making ‘After Hours’ smash ‘Blinding Lights’ shines at #1 on the comprehensive listing, Dua’s ‘Levitating’ reigns as Queen at #9 – the highest position claimed by any female act.
Beyond being penciled in Hot 100 history books for being the longest-charting hit by a woman in the hitlist’s 66-year history (77 weeks), the ‘Future Nostalgia’ cut is also in the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) record logs for being the first female-led song this decade certified Diamond for sales of 10 million in the United States.
As of time reported, ‘Levitating’ remains the highest-peaking hit on the all-genre chart of Lipa’s career (#2).

Ridiculous….its not even one of her top songs. Literally so generic. I still think, if her feature hasn’t wrecked his career with his backwards thinking, he would have remained successful for a while longer. I swear some of these musicians have the worst team / PR to actually direct / manage them. To call them out and put them in their place before they go out and say some sht online /on stage and f up their career. This applies to so many who had potential…..A banks included
