Jennifer Hudson fans got quite the present last Christmas when the powerhouse diva surprised with the unveiling of ‘The Gift of Love‘ – her first musical project of new material in nearly 10 years.
Supporting the effort with an accompanying tour, the return to the studio and nationwide stages (albeit for a seasonal effort) still seemed to reignite passion for new music for her followers and the EGOT winner herself – an itch she recently suggested she’s looking to scratch with a forthcoming commercial LP.

During a recent episode of her daytime talk series ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ Hudson – during a chat with celebrity interviewer Nick Gallo – revealed she’s toying around with finally recording the long-awaited follow-up to 2014’s ‘J.Hud’ album.
“I would love to do [a new studio album],” she said to Gallo after being quizzed on if one was in the works. “Doing the holiday album kind of re-inspired and motivated me to want to do more music. This was the best experience I’ve ever had creating an album, so it helped me get my flow on creatively.”
Though careful not to specify a timeframe on when fans could expect the project, Hudson did promise she’s excited about the prospect of recording a new LP once her busy schedule allows.
Another unconfirmed venture she expressed elation over is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the ‘Dreamgirls‘ screen adaptation.
And though she suggested there’s nothing on the books quite yet, Hudson shared she would love the idea of reprising the role that earned her an Academy Award (“Effie”) for a ‘One Night Only’ special – a play on the fan-favorite song of the same name from the movie’s soundtrack.
“I’m sure we all have our own [plans to celebrate the anniversary], or maybe we’ll come together at some point. I don’t know,” she said in response to the news the film turns 20-years-old in 2026. “But, I would love to do a one-night-only ‘Dreamgirls’ show. That’s what I would love to do.”
Beyond earning a thunderous applause from the audience, Jennifer’s revelation undoubtedly got longtime fans of the film salivating in excitement.
At writing, however, no tentative plans have been revealed from Hudson’s camp nor that of her co-stars Beyonce and Anika Noni Rose.

Just being honest, for a person that is a EGOT winner she hasn’t excelled in what earn her that status. Now yes maybe she needs the help of both Anika and Beyoncé it honestly their doing their own thing and successful in their own rights and I personally don’t see it happening cause no-one at this time don’t need that. All those that was pushing Jennifer at that time should’ve got her someone to help her in knowing what works for her voice because Effe is surely play out
Yeah she has. Beyonce bought every grammy she owns as none of her music has EVER been at the level of greatness. Maybe the writers she stole it from but not her lol. Fortunately the Oscars & CMA’s won’t all her to bully them into awarding her.
If that were the case, she would have bought at least one AOTY Grammy by now and more than one big 3 Grammy. Grammys can definitely be political and the have their favored stars for various reasons, but it’s obviously not that simple as to just be able to buy up a bunch of Grammys.
