Sitting at #1 for a second frame on the all-genre chart’s current print, ‘Smile’ first soared to #1 on last week’s Hot 100 and made Gaga the first singer this century to have multiple #1 hits across three distinct decades (00s, 10s, and 20s).

Among all acts over the chart’s 66-year history, sibling superstars Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson are the only other performers who can boast the unique accomplishments.

Gaga’s first chart-topper of this decade came courtesy of the ‘Chromatica‘ hit ‘Rain on Me‘ featuring fellow GRAMMY-winning Pop diva Ariana Grande – a feat that make the former’s latest historic achievement all the more poetic.

According to Billboard, ‘Smile’ makes Gaga the second artist in the history of the Hot 100 to top the tally with two duet ballads between male and female soloists.  She previously accomplished this with the Bradley Cooper-assisted ‘Shallow‘ in 2019.

Grande did it first with ‘Stuck With U’ (co-billed with Justin Bieber) and ‘Die for You’ (co-billed with The Weeknd).

The record-tying news comes not long after it was reported ‘Smile’ is eyeing a third week atop the Hot 100.

As Madonna said “No publicity’s bad.”
