Percussion Queen Sheila E. has drummed her way to a milestone win at the 2025 GRAMMYs four decades after earning her first nod.

Entering this year’s show with two nominations, Best Tropical Latin Album (‘Bailar’) and Best Global Music Performance (‘Bemba Colora’), Sheila (born Sheila Escovedo) captured the latter category – defeating Arooj Aftab, Angelique Kidjo, Masa Takumi, and Rocky Dawuni for the honor.

The win comes as the first of her legendary career and comes 40 years nominated at the 1985 GRAMMYs for her signature hit ‘Glamorous Life.’

Featuring Queen of Latin Pop Gloria Estefan, ‘Bemba’ comes as Sheila’s first Latin album ‘Bailar’ that also includes guest appearances from big names like Victor Manuelle, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Ruben Blades, and more.

Notably, the GRAMMY victory marks the fourth of Estefan’s career.
