The Numbers Are In: Kendrick Lamar’s Halftime Show Was the Most Watched in Super Bowl History

Published: Monday 10th Feb 2025 by Rashad

As if being the first solo Hip-Hop artist to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show wasn’t history-making enough, Kendrick Lamar has learned another historic milestone has been attached to his headline-grabbing set from Sunday (February 9).

It’s been a week of historic wins for Lamar – a streak that started Sunday (February 2) when the rapper made GRAMMY history for snagging Record and Song of the Year trophies for the hit Drake diss track ‘Not Like Us.’

As if upping his career golden gramophone count to 22 wasn’t enough to celebrate, the Compton-born emcee ventured to New Orleans as headliner of the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show the next Sunday.

Once all was said and done, the critically acclaimed set – which featured guest appearances from Serena Williams, SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, and more – was crowned the most-watched halftime show in history as it raked in a whopping 126 million viewers (a 2% increase from last year’s Usher-led spectacle).

Helping the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles soar to record-breaking ratings, reports have it the overall game peaked in the second half with a jaw-dropping average of 135.7 million viewers – the most viewership of any television program ever.

This year’s viewership total accounts for viewers across FOX, Tubi, and more.

Viewing peaked at 135.7 million from 8-8:15 p.m. ET, during the game’s second quarter, when the Eagles were building a 24-0 halftime lead. But viewers clearly stuck around for Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show😂, which included the rapper performing his Grammy-winning, Drake-beefing hit “Not Like Us,” and the second half of the game.-The Hollywood Reporter
