Tate McRae‘s new album ‘So Close To What’ danced its way to the masses this week.
Arriving amidst ample buzz, the 15-song set sees the Pop starlet aim to cement herself as a definitive one to watch – following the success of breakthrough hit ‘greedy’ and this LP’s offerings such as ‘Sports Car,’ ‘It’s Ok I’m Ok.’ and ‘2 Hands.’
Now, with the first-week predictions in, it looks like McRae could be on the cusp of a hit project.

According to Hits Daily Double, ‘So Close To What’ is pacing towards a top 5 debut on the Billboard 200 with opening sales of:
110,000-125,000
Should the sum hold, it will function as McRae’s biggest-selling launch to-date, almost doubling the 66,000 opening of 2023’s ‘Think Later.’

Numbers are pretty good. Tate’s clearly done her homework—PCD, DK, Britney, Janet, Nelly Furtado influence 👌🏼she’s putting the work in. No drama. Seems likeable. Have yet to see a performance where she doesn’t rely heavily on a backing track. But she’s improving each era. Is it just me or does her tone sound similar to Camila’s. RCA’s investing.
She does sound like Camila but way s***. Love her
