Craig Stewart Claps Back After Tamar Braxton Defended Calling Him “A B-tch” Because “That’s How Gay People Talk”: “She Tried to Humiliate Me”

As has been widely reported, Stewart – who co-hosts ‘Phag Tawlk‘ with TS Madison – entered a heated exchange with the GRAMMY-nominated songstress during a recent live taping of the popular podcast in which she referred to him as “girl” and “b-tch.”

And while she may not have meant it derogatorily, their altercation sparked a larger conversation about respect between the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.

A few days later, Braxton visited ‘The Morning Hustle‘ to address the hoopla around the headline-grabbing clash (as seen in the video above).

“We were at a gay event and I was with my gay friends and that’s how we talk,” Tamar relayed after being asked by the host if she went too far by calling Craig a “b-tch.” “He shouldn’t have gotten upset; I think everybody was just inebriated because we were having a blast and we came to a show to be gay.”

While chatting on the topic, the 48-year-old singer doubled down that she is a “really big supporter of the LGBTQ community” and felt her comments were “fitting” for the environment.

Eventually taking to Instagram (March 13), however, Braxton clarified that she took the heated interaction with Stewart as a teaching moment.

“here’s the thing. Not all Gay men want to be called “girl”…… or b-tch….I’m just learning this. I talk like this EVERYDAY!!!! …. That doesn’t mean that it’s ok. Shout out to @craigthewriterstewart for allowing me the grace to understand that. I appreciate the lesson,” she relayed to her 6.1 million followers on the platform.

Braxton’s redemptive social media post may have insinuated the two made amends, but Stewart suggested otherwise when he took to the March 18 episode of ‘Tawlk’ to talk about the incident.

“I felt like you [Tamar] tried to attack me because you didn’t like the truth that I spoke on this [podcast] as it relates to my perception of the ‘Braxton Family Values’ when it came back and my perception of how you are showing up in the world,” he said during the livestream after declaring the R&B diva tried to “humiliate” him.

Later, Craig reiterated his stance on how Tamar takes advantage of her proximity to the LGBTQ+ to use lingo that may not be universally welcomed by all the community’s members.

“All I was trying to communicate to you on the stage that night was that we are not that familiar, and so if you’ve been around gay people for years and you have gay friends and you are truly an ally, then you should’ve respected the boundary that I set. I set multiple boundaries that night. I said ‘do not call me girl,’ and then you said ‘b-tch.’ Then, I said ‘now you’re treading in the waters of disrespect,” he shared.

The author-social media personality also addressed the critics who feel he’s making much ado about nothing.

“For the people who were not there who said, ‘he’s just overreacting; we say girl all the time.’ Who is ‘we’? Because the cisgender, natural-born women that are in my life who are friends with me in real life, they don’t call me ‘girl.’ And, I don’t call my female friends ‘b-tch,'” he said.

According to Craig, Tamar has threatened legal action if he continues chatting about the incident.

Um…TS called you gurl that night…so now we have all this different categories and now depending on the category a cissy can’t call you girl but a trans can? Okay!

The fact that people are acting clueless is crazy. So if some random walks up to you and says ni**a, you’re going to have a problem because they don’t know yall like that. Or a random dude calls you a bit%$, because that’s how he talks with his boys. Every gay person is not a monolith. It would be so much easier if yall just say yall like her more and that’s why his opinion doesn’t matter to you.

Craig and TS are friends and have a rapport. Him and Tamar doesn’t. So, no it’s not okay.

I’m sure your criticism of her felt like disrespect. So where do we draw the line Ms Craig?

    I’m team Craig on this.
Tamar was out of line, he communicated his personal boundaries and she continued to cross them. That’s not what allies do. Doesn’t matter if they were at a gay event, among gay people. Not all gay men are the same and there’s a level of familiarity between those in the community and those on the periphery.
    Same with personal relationships.

Just call people what they wanna be called and respect boundaries. I get Tamar’s point but why is it so hard for her to listen eugh

And that’s his opinion and it should be respected because anything ortherwise would affect him
Mentally. The truth of the matter is all that language is gay lingo stolen and now used and glorified when used by a female in most environments.

Tamar is incredibly immature to be pushing 50 years old. She’s disrespectful and uncouth. This is why her career has been stuck in Zeus territory for years.
