Dawn Robinson has broken her silence on “breaking the internet” after her admission of homelessness.
As reported here, the En Vogue and Lucy Pearl star took to social media earlier this week to reveal she has been living in her car for most of the decade – an announcement that left fans stunned.
Now, after a few days of sympathy, well wishes, and even criticism from fans and celebrity peers alike, the 58-year-old has weighed in on the reactions to her shocking revelation.
Taking to Facebook on Friday (March 14), Robinson thanked her followers for their support.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from my Car Life video,” she told her 6,000 followers on the platform. “Going viral and breaking the internet was amazing.”
And while a lot of the fan commentary were expressions of concern about her overall well-being and safety, Dawn relayed such shouldn’t be the case.
“As I said, my aim was to inspire but some people are worried. Please don’t be,” she relayed.
Later in the message, the songstress seemingly addressed her ex-husband Andre Allen who took to TMZ to claim she declined the job he offered years ago to help prevent her unhoused experience.
“Ignore the trolls who are trying to attach themselves to my story. Leeches do that,” she said.
Robinson promised to provide a more detailed reaction to the outpour of fan concern in a forthcoming video.
