The legendary Erykah Badu is finally gearing up to release her first studio album in 15 years and she’s bringing The Alchemist along for the ride.

In a recent interview with Billboard, the neo-soul icon opened up about her love for her Hip-Hop, sharing that while she doesn’t keep up with the genre like she once did she still deeply connects with its essence.
She told the publication:
‘Rap is the people. Hip-Hop is the people. It’s the folks. It’s the tribe. I have the luxury of experiencing having children who I watch grow up and love and encourage very much and I cannot separate them when I see artists who are that age coming up. That’s how they feel. They are continuing the tradition.”
Though details remain scarce, Badu revealed that the project is consuming much of her time, and she’s eager to wrap it up. She recently teased snippets of the new music on Instagram, sending fans into a frenzy.
This marks Badu’s first full-length project since ‘New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh)’ in 2010. No release date yet but with a pairing like this expectations are sky-high.
