The city unveiled ‘Will Smith Way’ this week. It’s a stretch of North 59th Street adjacent to Overbrook High School – his alma mater.
Addressing the crowd at the presentation ceremony, Smith gushed:
“Philly, I love you. I am yours. You are mine.”
This tribute arrives in tandem with a significant milestone in Smith’s career, the release of his fifth studio album ‘Based on a True Story.’
It serves as the superstar’s first musical endeavor in two decades.
The album features collaborations with artists like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor, and Big Sean. In conjunction with the album, Smith has announced his inaugural headlining tour, which commences this summer.
From the streets of West Philly to global acclaim, Smith’s journey has come full circle in the most resonating way.
