20 years and 10 million copies sold later, Mariah Carey‘s 10th studio album – 2005’s ‘Emancipation of Mimi‘ – not only reigns as her magnum opus (by many critics’ standards) but also one of the best LPs released this century overall.
Home to the history-making hit ‘We Belong Together‘ as well as smash singles ‘It’s Like That,’ ‘Shake It Off,’ ‘Say Somethin,’ and ‘Don’t Forget About Us,’ the project debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 the year of its release with Carey’s highest first-week sales at that point and went on to dominate the top 10 for months following its launch.
A bid to toast its ongoing success and help it reclaim its former chart glory will come courtesy of a 20th anniversary edition to be released Saturday (April 12) and features the original album’s tracks, cuts from the Ultra Platinum edition, and 20 additional numbers.
