Jessica Simpson is stepping back into the spotlight – and getting candid while she’s at it.
Full story below…
Sitting down with Fancy Hagood on Trailblazers Radio and PEOPLE, the ‘Blame Me’ songstress opened up about the emotional rollercoaster behind her musical hiatus, saying:
“I took a long break. I was mad at music a bit. After being dropped with a number one country album, I was dropped and I just never understood it.”
Sis has hits, but the industry said otherwise, she revealed:
“They just said I would never recoup if I didn’t give them part of the brand, but my brand was already successful.”
In a 2023 story with Bustle, she spoke on not having a choice when it came to the music she wanted to make, saying:
“It wasn’t my choice to have Scott Storch or all these producers that [costs] a million dollars a track… I didn’t control those budgets. We were just yes-people. And in saying yes to everything, I lost it all.”
Despite warnings to stay away from music and reality TV, Simpson made her own lane, stating:
“They told me not to do it. They thought it would ruin my career, and it didn’t.”
Now, with ‘Nashville Canyon, Pt.1’ and her first live performance in 15 years, Simpson is back, trusting her gut, her journey, and proving the light never left.

I agree. Her label sucks ass. They did her dirty and they should’ve pushed her like Britney and Christina. Sony also did Mandy Moore wrong. They both have potentials to be huge. It was a mistake that their label gave up the albums after only released 2 singles
Sorry but this country music sucks. Her pop music is 10 times better. I love the new pop country.
Music was mad too at your off-key yodeling so now guess you’re even
she had one lil country song go mainstream & she switched completely to country. that was a big mistake. also trying to model her after britney the first 2 albums was also damaging. labels are just a scam
