Keri Hilson is back and hitting the promotional trail to signal her return.
And The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 was her latest stop.
The singer-songwriter seized the moment to open up in earnest about her nearly 15-year hiatus, overcoming a deep “depression,” her single ‘Bae,‘ and forthcoming album ‘We Need to Talk’ (due April 18).
Hilson also got all sorts of candid about “that” ‘Turnin’ Me On’ remix that many received as a diss towards Beyonce.
The R&B star delivered a candid account of what transpired and revealed she was “forced” to record and release the record.
Full story below…
Speaking with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Loren LoRosa, Hilson said of the 2011 track:
“It’s a regret. But not in the way people think. That’s a song I actually didn’t write. Those are not my words.
That’s a song I actually didn’t write. Those are not my words. I was on tour, Polow [Da Don] wanted me to do a remix to Turning Me On. He produced the record. Because I was on tour with Lil Wayne, I wasn’t able to lay anything down. he had been on me for a couple of weeks, [saying] we need to do a remix.”
Continuing, she revealed:
“He had another writer in our camp at the time…he had her write this. He played it for me. Meanwhile I’m thinking I was coming in to write a remix to ‘Turnin’ Me On.’ Automatically, I was like, ‘I’m not saying that.’ That was my position. I’m an athlete. I am competitive. But I’m not nasty, I’m a finesse player. I don’t look at things like that.”
Unpacking how Polow is into “shock” antics, and she isn’t opting to proceed with writing her own verse, she carefully articulated that the situation was “forceful.” She stressed that the situation turned toxic by involving other artists and “threatening my career.”
Hilson claims that, because “my album wasn’t out yet, I was told it’s not coming out if you don’t do this.”

Go Keri !
💖💖💖💖💖
I believe her she said this before and the story hasn’t changed. Polow remained silence stopped working with her and continued producing records and she got blackballed but her album still did well. Pretty Girl Rock was still a successful song even after all the backlash. It’s a shame it happened cause both her albums were solid and her pen game is lethal.
Go Keri ❤️🔥
I wish your new album would have more than 9 songs but I’m soooo glad you are coming back!
Hunnie, no one was gunpointing you to diss B… so stop playing victim… the truth is she split up with Timbaland and she lost on the radar
I Know it’s hard for you but try to open your kpop eyes for 1 min to read what she said
You are a “Dumb b****”!!!
🥱 YAWN,
That diss record wasn’t even the ONLY shade she threw at 🐝 There was other instances as well. 🤣
Good as she should
And I enjoyed it. fk beywitched lol.
I don’t care if you did it just because that’s how you felt. FK Beyonce! Stand on that sh!t, that woman is trash and we are waiting for real music again.
Girl, bye. You dissed Ciara for not writing her own stuff in that same song. Just say you’re sorry and keep it moving cause this excuse is definitely not it and it makes her look worse
@paolo
Get yourself together don’t hate (never do it)
Jealousy’s the ugliest trait (don’t ever do it)
I can talk about it ’cause I know that I’m pretty
And if you know it too, then ladies sing it with me
All eyes on me when I walk in
No question that this girl’s a ten
Don’t hate me ’cause I’m beautiful
Don’t hate me ’cause I’m beautiful
My walk, my talk, the way I dress
It’s not my fault so please don’t trip
I absolutely dislike Bey who I think is a thief and a con artist, but I don’t buy one word coming out of Keri’s mouth!!!
