New Song: Mariah Carey – ‘Type Dangerous’

Published: Thursday 5th Jun 2025 by Rashad

Mariah Carey is back with a banger.

Having amply teased work on a new album over the last few years (her first since 2018’s ‘Caution‘), the fruit of that labor is finally set to make its way to shelves courtesy of what’s currently billed #MC16 – her 16th LP.

The first taste of what’s aboard the project comes courtesy of her June 6-released single ‘Type Dangerous.’

“Looking for the dangerous type,” she croons on the sultry track. “I like them dangerous/ That’s my type/ I said I love them dangerous.”

Containing interpolations of early 90’s sounds reminiscent of the New Jack Swing songs of the era, the new tune awaits inside for your listening pleasure.

I like the vibe 🔊 and vision of vocabulary ⚠️🚧💛.

Ok it’s giving a mix of Brandy circa 2003 and Jennifer Lopez singing “Don’t be fool by the rocks that I got”

It’s good as a buzz track, a new version of MC but not a hit.

I can hear some elements of the “Living Single” theme in that song as well.

  3. Audiobully June 5, 2025

It’s definitely not like some of her earlier catchy upbeat tracks but if you listen to it a couple of times, it’s quite the BOP!

    Her voice sounds different

Is that you Jlo? (great use of Rigamarole btw) 😉

    • UGon_Learn June 6, 2025

You mean Ashanti, cause Jlo couldn’t mimic any of those notes on her best day. And don’t ever forget that Mariah was the originator of that sound.

I suspect this version to be short because some new version featuring rappers are coming

I was thinking the exact same thing, hoping too.

It’s a bop. These fools commenting don’t know anything about music or the world. Silly Babies

    Flop Dangerous

  10. Gunna June 6, 2025

A 60 year old half breed singing about liking them dangerous lmao she should stick to 30 year old Christmas carols this ain’t it😂😂😂😂

The sample is Eric B & Rakim, Hip hop legends. And was used before and after Jho (who made a career of stealing just like Thefyawnce.) For those of you who are music history illiterate. This is classic Mariah. No different than when she did it for It’s like that. Actually impressed with the song. She sounds good over it and found her pocket. Mature and catchy. And legends don’t need to worry about appeasing “the hit crowd.” People are listening to fkn the weekday, Lizzo, and Mega Man for alleged hits. We just want quality music.

It’s not that deep though. The song as no meaning and the lyrics are not authentic. Only the singing and production are good

      • yup! June 6, 2025

It doesn’t need to be deep lol. She’s written it all. She’s in a different phase of her career.

Anderson. Paak co-wrote it and shoul’ve been featuring in it too. I miss some rap verse
