Cardi B‘s courtroom debut it already turning heads as her long brewing civil trial officially kicked off Monday, 26 August in Los Angeles.

The Rap superstar is being sued by former security guard Emani Ellis, who claims Cardi ridiculed her, spit on her and even scratched her face during a fiery 2018 confrontation. Ellis testified the clash happened at a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office, where Cardi – then four months pregnant with daughter Kulture – allegedly lashed out after suspecting Ellis of leaking her private medical visit.
According to Ellis, Cardi hurled insults about her weight and job before taking a swing, spitting on her and leaving a cheek wound with one of her famously long nails. Ellis further claimed she lost her job following the incident, though she admitted in court that it was attributed to a HIPAA violation rather than Cardi’s alleged threats.

The GRAMMY winner arrived in style for day one, rocking a sleek black suit and sitting calmly with her legal team as Ellis recounted the explosive encounter.
Five years after the alleged altercation the ‘WAP’ hitmaker and the former guard are now going through a trial set to pull back the curtain on one of Cardi’s most infamous clashes.
The showing comes ahead of her long-awaited sophomore album, ‘Am I The Drama?’ (due September 19).
