As reported, while chatting on the ‘It’s Giving’ podcast, the rap icon admitted he was caught off guard when his grandson questioned the same-sex couple shown briefly in the animated film. His comments sparked debate online, with some accusing him of being dismissive.

Things got messier when an apology appeared on his Instagram, only for Snoop’s camp to deny it was real, per a rep’s statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Snoop, or someone believed to be Snoop, wrote:

All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6-yr-old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect,”

It was not disclosed who is behind the remark, which is now being deemed “fake” (according to the rep).

Now, fans are left wondering what to think.

Screenwriter Lauren Gunderson, who helped shape ‘Lightyear,’ fired back by reiterating the need to celebrate the importance of showcasing queer love on screen.

With the chatter growing louder, all eyes are on Snoop to see if he’ll clarify where he truly stands.
