Football Legend Eric Dickerson Blasts NFL Over Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show: "Keep His A** In Puerto Rico"

In a fiery rant posted by TMZ recently, the 65-year-old Hall of Famer unleashed his confusion and criticism, questioning why the Puerto Rican megastar was chosen at all.

He said:

“If Bad Bunny don’t like the United States, keep his a** where he at. Don’t come on here singing, Keep his a** in Puerto Rico. If he don’t like the U.S., keep his a** over there.”

Even after being reminded that Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, Dickerson doubled down, saying:

“I know Puerto Rico is part of the U.S., but it’s not the U.S. That’s how I look at it. That’s how I feel. They get these performers and they say all this controversial stuff about the United States, about how they hate the U.S., and all that kind of stuff. If you hate the U.S., don’t come here.”

Meanwhile, Bunny recently made headlines for brushing off other backlash he’s received for the Halftime Show gig with humor during his SNL appearance, teasing that anyone upset they won’t understand his songs “have four months to learn.”

Whether fans see it as a culture clash or controversy, one thing’s clear: this halftime show already has the internet talking.

I dont want to see him at superbowl, they could’ve got.
    1. Chris Brown
    2. Cardi B
    3. Lady Gaga
    Theres so many other options.

I don’t think Bad Bunny is a bad choice, it’s just a bit random, like I personally think the half time show should be inclusive. And that’s not to say there shouldn’t be performances from other races / ethnicities / languages. But why add to to the already volatile state that America’s in. At the same time, I feel sorry for him.

Whoever “they” (Jay Z etc.) choose….the decision making is biased from the start. Like I can’t imagine them choosing Chris Brown.

I think if Beyoncé had been more accepted by the YT country community, there could have been a country half time show…. I thought about this seeing as Morgan has been a constant presence in Billboard charts. I’m not a fan but yeah, he’s obviously popular so would make sense.

Cardi B, that could happen, but when is she due to give birth?

        Lady Gaga, please check YouTube.

I think this could work though….if they were going for nostalgia, more wide spread appeal… Christina Aguilera, Missy, Mya, Pink, Lil Kim. Their lady marmalade is still iconic. They have more than enough well known hits between them. Hmmm…some of them, not all, could even have a solo half time show, but this dynamic approach would have greater impact.

Other future options….Ariana Grande seems like a safe bet. Her catalog is vast. Vocals, check. She collaborated with everyone, literally so many options for guests to join her.

Hmmm….other options…. Daft Punk….Pharrell….. I know Elton has been offered but declined. What about something like a Nile Roger’s and friends half time….he’s worked with so many. Like the iconic feel good music of Chic still sounds so fresh and gets everyone in the mood. He still works with so many, like I’m sure he worked on Cowboy Carter.

Whether you want to see him or not doesn’t make him unworthy to be the superbowl performer (I know that’s not what the above comment said).

It’s insanity the regression of racism and hatred this country and world are coming to. Tbh why is there so much hatred toward bad bunny. He hasn’t said anything most Americans haven’t said about the current regime and the state of politics in the US.

    It’s a sad time! 😞

Fear!! They believe there’s a concerted effort at play for whites to be erased and replaced by black and brown people in America. This fear is breeding a new white supremacy movement. The term “America first” really means “whites only”.

These ignorant meltdowns are so boring… Bad Bunny was the most streamed artist with the most streamed album in the US not too long ago. I’m not a fan but people wanna see him so suck it up and clap grandpa

The racist rhetoric surrounding Bad Bunnys Superbowl isn’t something I subscribe to because at the end of the day, this land was stolen by people who are not PR or Black…oop! That part….🤭

My issue is that Bad Bunny is an obvious plant with mid-music and stolen sounds from artist of color that got lucky with the extra few years that he got by associating with the right people (i.e., Kendall Jenner for example). I wont be watching this halftime show and sadly I can already predict what the message will be. PR flags and insignia all over with a few Easter egg artist popping up to help him with his set. Yawn…yawn…YAWN. TOMATOES…TOMATOES…TOMATOES!!! 🍅🍅🍅 im bored at the thought already. Maybe he will prove me wrong but I doubt it.

  7. Am I The Drama Cardi B October 11, 2025

I think he got too ruch and forgot about the racism he and his team mates faced from his coach and people in highschool and now you want to be tone deaf.. interesting

  8. Lmao bigotry is bad duh October 12, 2025

Is it me or do people like to say “that’s how I feel” when they make no sense at all. It’s manipulation, propaganda and weak vernacular because they can’t communicate their feelings of jealousy and discomfort with maturity. Puerto Rico and our American territories and the people born there are American. It’s law. Etc etc. love or hate the artist he’s on the charts and in the record books. Vetted and commercially qualified to perform and headline. Everybody calm down. bye.

I’m Hispanic yes PR born in Spanish Harlem I’ve heard of him but I’m not interested in he’s music and haven’t bothered know anything of him I don’t dislike him or have negative feelings towards the gentleman I care less about him so all this mess doesn’t make any sense live and let live I’m strictly soulful house music from the 70s

CTE is a terrible disease. Having your head hit over and over playing football should make all future opinions suspect
