As has been widely reported, Rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion‘s latest single – the viral smash ‘Lover Girl‘ – not only made an impressive premiere on this week’s Hot 100 but also saved the chart from its first Hip-Hop drought in nearly 40 years.
Look inside to see the numbers behind its opening placement, a position that also put Meg in Billboard history books alongside her ‘Hot Girl Summer‘ co-creator Nicki Minaj and ‘WAP‘ co-star Cardi B.
Meg’s ‘Lover Girl’ debuted at #38 on the updated Hot 100. Here are the numbers that powered its placement.
- 8.5 million official U.S. streams
- 1.5 million radio airplay listeners
- 5,000 digital sales
The handsome combo helped ‘Lover’ become the week’s highest-charting new song (among all genres).
As if that’s not enough to boast, the Total-sampling cut is now the 21st top 40 hit of Megan’s career – making her only the third female rapper in history to boast having over 20 tunes enter the coveted chart region. She follows Minaj (75) and Cardi (37) in the esteemed club.
As far as this week’s Hot 100 goes, however, look below to see who joins Meg courtesy of TGJ’s weekly recap “Chart Check.”
