Full story below…

Things have been heating up between Ray J and Mario over the past few weeks, and the tension finally took center stage during their appearances on The Breakfast Club.

The R&B back-and-forth began after Mario sparked controversy by calling out singers he felt “couldn’t sing,” a moment interpreted as a direct shot at Ray J.

Since then, both artists have spoken out as fans debated who truly holds the vocal crown, with Ray J receiving public support from his sister Brandy and other industry peers.

During his own interview on the platform, Mario revealed that he and Ray J recently crossed paths at a show where Ray tried to spark an impromptu Verzuz battle right then and there. Echoing aspects of Ray’s account.

While laughing it off, Mario didn’t hold back his confidence, saying Ray J simply doesn’t have enough records to compete.

He shared:

“Ray J doesn’t want any smoke with me on any level. He only got one wish. He got a couple of records, but they’re not timeless.”

Ray J also used his interview to address the situation head-on. He opened up about wanting a real Verzuz with Mario, clarified past comments about Mario’s sexuality and Wale, and issued apologies to both.

Ray J spilled:

“I’ve never seen Mario with a woman, but I love Mario… I’m sure he has women and I’m sorry, Mario.

I think that in a Verzuz live right now, Mario will crush me.”

Despite the tension, both artists seemed to leave the door open for a friendly showdown, one that fans would definitely show up for.

    They both suck.
I don’t know any Mario songs and they weren’t timeless lol
    What a joke!

This actually all started from Kevin McCall when he started naming singers that can’t sing lol now everyone is giving their opinion and fighting and Kevin faded back into oblivion.

Mario is a good singer, but he is a hater to his core. He even hated on Lucky Daye, Chile. This man cant be happy for nobody.

I like some of Mario and Rays songs but i feel like they are both delusional. Mario hasnt had a hit album since 2004 and hasnt had a hit single like 2007 and thats just me speaking loosely. I honestly dont know much of his music outside of that first album. Ray J hasnt had a hit since 2008 when he released S*** Can I and that was just a moderate hit tbh. So yeah…both can take several seats.

Sidebar: Can we cancel Verzuz btw? After pandemic, it doesnt hold the same appeal anymore. Like, its literally a boring circus show of ego, drunk, druggies, hasbeens, and neverbeens trying to reclaim time on a broken clock. Like let it go…
