Mya is officially in the mix on ‘The Boy Is Mine Tour.’

With Muni Long announcing her departure from the Brandy and Monica-led trek due to ill health, the ‘Case of the Ex’ songstress has been roped in as her replacement.

The news was confirmed by the juggernaut behind the blockbuster trek, the Black Promoters Collective.
Mya, who temporarily stepped in for Muni early in the show’s run – again, due to ill health – will step into the vacant spot beginning tonight (November 30) in Detroit at the Capital One Arena.
With Mya having already earned rave reviews for her stellar showing on the tour, it looks like attendees are in for an even more of a treat.
Brandy, Monica, Kelly Rowland, and now Mya?! Now, that’s a lineup!

This comment. We can’t forget the Teenage Trilogy of the 1990s that consisted of Aaliyah, Brandy and Monica, with Mya making her own impact, though not as impactful as the other three. This tour makes me miss Aaliyah even the more.
Respectfully, Mya wasn’t part of the trio based on timing, age, impact. The trio were 14/15 around 94. Mya was 18 in 98. I think Beyoncé was also 18 in 98 when DC first made an impact. A lot happened in 4 years since 94. By then, trends, looks, melodies/styles, and certain sounds….these were already being established. So the innovation / blueprints were already becoming the foundations of what we hear today. I don’t think Mya has ever been considered part of the trio. But that doesn’t discredit her rise and popularity. She had hits and collabs. Glad to see she’s still performing, maintained her looks and voice, actively making music independently. More power to her.
