In an interview on KissXTRA, Mai reflected on how becoming a new mother has changed her, especially as she admits she did not initially see herself as a maternal person. Prior to her pregnancy, her focus was firmly on her career as an artist. She shared:
‘But now, to see this new journey, to feel this new journey, and kind of have it coincide with what I’m doing now that I’m back at work and stuff, is incredible. It’s hard work, don’t get me wrong, but I couldn’t imagine my life now that I have him without him. It’s been great.’
The ‘Boo’d Up’ singer also spoke candidly about being intentional when it came to maintaining her privacy throughout the pregnancy. She explained:
‘Yes, there’s cameras everywhere, but if you’re intentional with the way that you move, it’s not that hard to not be seen, honestly. I only really have to show people what I want them to see. While I was pregnant, I didn’t stay inside all the time. I didn’t not go outside. I went outside, I was intentional with where I went because I knew that I wanted to keep my peace.’
The UK songstress also revealed that she was pregnant and postpartum while working on her ‘Do You Still Love Me?’ album. She noted that the experience shifted her perspective significantly and hopes fans can hear that growth reflected in the music.
This comes after the ‘Little Things’ crooner sparked pregnancy rumors while attending a Boston Celtics game, followed by the debut of her baby with Tatum at the 2024 Olympics.
