Music history is getting its long-overdue flowers. The Recording Academy has announced a powerhouse lineup of icons set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Awards, with Whitney Houston, Cher, and Chaka Khan amongst those tapped for the prestigious honor.

The accolade recognizes artists whose creative impact has left an undeniable mark on the recording industry, and this group’s influence speaks for itself. From Houston’s era-defining vocals to Khan’s genre-blurring brilliance. Also in the lineup to receive the award are Paul Simon and Carlos Santana.
The legends will be celebrated during the Academy’s Special Merit Awards ceremony on January 31, ahead of the Grammys, which takes place February 1, 2026.
