Jill Scott is clearing the air after a viral moment unexpectedly placed her at the center of a pop culture storm.
Full story below…
While promoting her upcoming album ‘To Whom This May Concern,’ the Neo-soul legend was asked by UK creator cleanheartedkidd to name her “King of Pop.” Her off-the-cuff answer was “Chris Brown” and quickly ignited debate online, with fans rushing to defend the late Michael Jackson’s long-held title.
Scott addressed the chatter on X, revealing that she was running on little sleep after being awake since 3 a.m. and caught off guard by the question, she wrote:
“OH! Baby that bs title is a consensus, I obviously wasn’t in the mood. If I was asked again… I’d say Prince.”
She went on to praise the icon, calling him:
“EVERYTHING – dancer, opulent musician, visionary, divine, songwriter, showman.”
The moment arrives as Scott gears up for her first album since 2015, and it’s set for release on February 13.

True, MJ is the KOP. But Prince is at least a step up from CB, in my opinion. MJ and Prince were always pitted against each other at the height of their careers in the 80s.
