Jack White Clarifies Taylor Swift Comments After #Swifties Attack: “I Didn’t Say I Think Her Music Is Boring”

White Stripes frontman Jack White had Taylor Swift fans seeing red after a quote about the ‘Red‘ diva from a recent interview of his went all sorts of viral.

As has been widely reported, White took to ‘The Guardian‘ on Sunday (March 8) to share the opinion about biographical songwriting.

“Now it’s become very popular in the Taylor Swift way of pop singers writing about all of their publicly aired break-ups,” he shared before saying, “[I don’t find that] interesting at all. I think it’s a little bit boring for me to write about myself.”

The commentary incited fury from Swift’s fans (affectionately called #Swifties), prompting many to take to social media to slam Jack for being a “hypocrite” given that so many of his songs are allegedly about his divorce from Karen Elson.

Others argued his stance was misogynistic, asserting his statements were particularly distasteful given their arrival on International Women’s Day.

Tired of the hoopla, White took to Instagram on Monday (March 9) to clear the air.

“I didn’t say I think Taylor Swift’s music is ‘boring’ or whatever click bait the net is trying to scrape together,” he said in a now-deleted post before relaying, “These are the times where I’m made less and less interested in doing interviews. Because in the age of this massive demand for click bait and content, any scrape of anything interesting or off the beaten path that can be turned into drama is swarmed over and spit out as bait.”

That’s not all he said; read the post in full above.

At writing, Taylor’s not responded to the perceived diss.
